Friday Favorites: Running Racing Eating Irvine! Labor Day Sales!

Time for another round of Friday Favorites! I’ll be fairly brief because I’m heading out of town today. I’ll be Running Racing Eating Irvine! Which sounds pretty weird, but it’s true.  I also want to share some awesome Labor Day sales with you and a special Popsugar guest post with Hillary Clinton.

Running Racing Eating Irvine

Well, it’s finally here. Tomorrow I’ll be racing the LaceUp Running Series 10k in Irvine! While racing might be a bit of an exaggeration, I have mostly followed my four-week faster 10k training program, so I’m feeling somewhat confident that at least I won’t embarrass myself.

My last 10k was in March at the Run Through Redlands. It was a very rainy day and I’d forgotten my asthma inhaler, not a good thing when you have exercise induced asthma, so I just relaxed and took my time. I finished in 1:05:53, which was still good enough for second in my division! I would like to improve on that (and my inhaler is already packed!).

I’ll be back with a recap on Tuesday. Eating Irvine

When Alan and I were new vegetarians, about eight or nine years ago, we headed to Irvine because he was announcing a Cinco de Mayo race there. We’re old hands now, but back then finding mostly vegan food in a new town was a bit of a challenge. Somehow, after driving aimlessly for a while, we stumbled upon the Irvine Spectrum. Even more stumbling brought us to the Veggie Grill.

Talk about good luck! While back then we had to ask whether the “chicken sandwiches” contained real chicken, now the Veggie Grill has become one of our favorite vegan restaurants. Sadly, there is not one anywhere near the desert, so I’ll be taking my opportunity to pig out (the cruelty-free way, of course) at the Veggie Grill tonight.

Or…I have options! In addition to the Veggie Grill, there is also a Native Foods, Wheel of Life (Thai food, yum!), and yet another Veggie Grill, all within a few miles of my hotel. There’s even a vegan bakery! So, I’m not sure where I’ll be eating, but I know I’ll be eating well!

Fall Styles at Skirt Sports
