I’ve been talking about how it’s time that I plan for Medicare. Time passes quickly and in just a few years I will be eligible, and I know that I will be able to select a Medicare plan that will fit my needs. Thanks to Anthem Blue Cross for sponsoring this post.
But my husband Alan is there right now. And with the deadline for enrollment coming up on December 7, he is also taking a look at his plan to see if he needs to make any changes.
I also know that many of my readers are too young to need to worry too much about Medicare or retirement yet, but many of you might have parents who are approaching that age. I hope that this information can help you help them make their choices.
Now Is the Time: Planning Ahead for Medicare
#AD My husband and I work hard to stay healthy and active. Accidents happen though and we need a Medicare Advantage like the ones offered by @AnthemBlueCross that will take care of our health needs.! #AgeWell Click To TweetHere are some key points that can help you and/or your parents make their choice.
- Open enrollment started October 15 and ends on December 7. Whether you’re new to Medicare or changing plans, enroll by December 7 to make sure you have coverage for 2020.
- Many people don’t realize that Original Medicare only covers 80% of most medical costs.
- Medicare Advantage plans like those offered by Anthem Blue Cross offer coverage for services Original Medicare does not cover.
- You can choose plans that offer $0 doctor and hospital copays, $0 prescription copays, $0 eye care copays. *plans vary by state and by county
- Anthem Blue Cross plans strive to improve consumers’ lives by taking a whole-person approach to healthcare services.
- In California, some Anthem Blue Cross plans will offer pest control in 2020.
- Anthem Blue Cross offers Medicare Advantage plans that are available at a $0 monthly premium.
- Some of the Anthem Blue Cross Medicare Advantage plans include access to healthy food delivery, adult day centers, personal home helpers, respite care, and pain management.
I’ve talked a lot about how important it is to me to have preventative care. I also realize that easy access to high-quality care is equally important. Medicare Advantage plans like the ones offered by Anthem Blue Cross are affordable and provide services that meet people’s healthcare needs.
Don’t forget! Medicare Open Enrollment ends December 7!

Fortunately, I have a few years to figure things out. My hubby has worked in the financial planning industry (life insurance, etc.) most of his adult life, so he’s got a lot of things already in place for us in this realm.
