My ROAD ID Story
About 10 years ago, I was on a century ride that started and finished in Malibu. We were a fairly large group that included my husband, a few friends, and many people that were unknown to me. There were probably about 20 of us all together.
During that ride, as we approached Ventura, one of the cyclists crashed. Basically, his bike fell apart underneath him. He crashed, hit his head, and, in spite of his helmet, was knocked unconscious. We called 911 and managed traffic while we waited for the paramedics to arrive.
The cyclist, whose name was Peter, was not carrying any identification, and none of his knew his last name. When EMS arrived, we had no way of telling them how to contact his wife, if he had any health issues that they needed to know or anything about him at all.
After that incident, my girlfriend and frequent cycling partner told me about ROAD ID. It was the first time I’d heard of this wearable ID, that could inform emergency workers of my contact information and medical history at a glance. I went home and ordered one for both Alan and myself that same day.
Flash forward 10 years. Alan is still wearing his original whenever he rides his bike. I have updated to the Elite because I love the pretty colors, the personalizable badges and that I can adjust the size as needed. I even love that it matches my Samsung watch and Goodr sunglasses! I wear my ROAD ID everywhere.
