As a competitive runner, I’m always looking for ways to get an advantage in my training. Whether it’s a great workout, new shoes, or mobility training, I want something that will help me train smarter, get faster, and recover better. Recently I’ve been learning about CBD and running recovery and I’ve been adding CBDistillery CBD products to my recovery regimen. I’ve noticed an improvement in the speed and thoroughness with which I recover. Here are three ways CBDistillery CBD Oil has helped my running recovery.

I’ve been using three different CBDistillery products for about three weeks and each has helped my recovery in a different way. Here’s how each product has been useful in my running recovery.
Homeostasis and CBD Tincture
First, a little science. Bodily homeostasis is biological harmony in response to changes in the environment. With regard to running, it is the reason your breathing increases to supply more oxygen to flush out lactic acid and restore oxygen deficit. Sweating is your body’s attempt to help cool your body and return to homeostasis. Your blood pressure and blood glucose levels all increase while and shortly after you’re exercising, all in order to be in homeostasis.
Enter the Human Endocannabinoid System. Discovered in the 1990s, endocannabinoids are the natural cannabis-like molecules produced by the human body (and all other vertebrates). The main purpose of the Human Endocannabinoid System is to keep our bodies in homeostasis. Endocannabinoids are involved in a wide variety of processes including mood, memory, pain, sleep, stress, immune function, reproductive function, and metabolism. Scientists discovered that cannabis exerted its effect by, in part, mimicking endocannabinoids.
CBD oil is a non-intoxicating component found in cannabis. You don’t get high from CBD oil, but it does interact with the Human Endocannabinoid System. Researchers learned that our bodies are wired to respond to the plant-based cannabinoids in cannabis, particularly CBD. They found that cannabidiol mimics the effects of the messengers and influences the receptors of your endocannabinoid system. Research has shown promising results for the use of CBD for pain and inflammation.
I have been using the CBDistillery Tincture after a workout and I feel that I recover faster with less inflammation. It’s easy to take a dropper-full right after I finish my run. It can also be mixed in juice or a smoothie. I even made vegan Bulletproof Coffee and it was delicious!
CBDistillery CBD Tincture has 33 mg of CBD per serving. It is made using natural farming practices and is non-GMO and gluten-free. It is 100% natural and 3rd party tested to ensure quality and purity.
Muscle Aches and CBDol Topical Salve
I have also been using CBDol Topical Salve for some of my aches and pains after a run. It just feels good to rub into my feet after a long run. It has also been helpful for arthritis in my thumbs. I feel quick relief and it just soothes my body. In addition to the CBD oil, the topical salve also contains Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Lavender, Peppermint, and other essential oils.
CBDol Topical Salve is sourced from US-grown, non-GMO industrial hemp that is pesticide and fungicide-free. It contains 500mg of CBD per one ounce container and gives you all the benefits of cannabis (but not the high).
Better Sleep with PM Gummies
Sleep may be the most important part of running recovery. The body needs time to repair after a hard effort and getting enough sleep is vital for this. Poor sleep leads to poor performance and potential injury.
In the good ol’ days, I could fall asleep at the drop of a hat after an activity-filled day. In recent years, not so much (thank you hot flashes!). Now that I have found the CBDistillery PM Gummies, which are vegan and perhaps my favorite of all the CBD products, I fall asleep quickly, stay asleep, and wake up feeling clear-headed and rested.
These hemp-derived CBD Gummies are combined with the calming effects of melatonin to help you get a good night’s sleep, which is so vital for running recovery. They are 100% plant-based and contain 0% THC. As with all CBDistillery products they are non-GMO and responsibly sourced.

I’ve been using CBD oil for almost 2 months now. I can’t really say I notice a huge difference. BUT, I have heard really good results from friends. I guess everyone is different!

I actually had tried CBD before using the CBDistillery products and I feel like they’re better. Maybe they have more CBD, I’m not sure. I do like the gummies and salve the best but I feel like the tincture is helping too.
Kimberly Hatting
I have not tried any CBD oil products ((yet)), but have heard mixed reviews on the effects (more good than bad). I got an email recently from a CBD oil company, inviting me to try some of their products…I’ll have to look back through and see what company it was LOL . Maybe it was this one (?) Thanks for sharing….the salve sounds especially nice with all the other ingredients and essential oils.
Debbie Woodruff
There are a lot of companies out there so do your research. I tried it once and ended up on a list where they automatically sent me product each month! I like the quality of the CBDistillery as well as that they are ethically produced. That’s important to me. And they have VEGAN gummies!!!

The socks! haha! I haven’t trying any CBD products yet . . . I think I have a mental block to get over even though i know they are not illicit drugs or intoxicating. So, thanks for the informative post . . . better sleep and less inflammation sound like amazing benefits
Debbie Woodruff
I can understand your hesitation. Believe me, there is no psychotropic effect with CBD. And my sleep has been so much better!
Laurie
I haven’t tried any CBD products yet, but the salve sounds good. I would like a good, natural salve to help with body aches after a run. I have tried melatonin to help me sleep and I did not like the results. It did help me sleep, but I had really vivid dreams, which I didn’t like. My heart rate when I am sleeping is already in the high 30s (I had to wear a monitor for a heart issue once). Melatonin depresses it even more – not a good thing for me, and probably other runners too. Sorry for the ramble about melatonin! 🙂
Debbie Woodruff
My husband doesn’t care for melatonin either. To each their own! They have gummies without it but I don’t think they’re designed to help with sleep.

So funny because I have a CBD post in my drafts folder! I have been using topical CBD for my joint pain and I find it to be amazingly effective. The hardest thing for me is weeding (pun intended) through all the products to find the best ones. I mean, they sell CBD oil at the gas station, for god’s sake! LOL
Nice review.
Debbie Woodruff
Thanks. There really is a lot of CBD out there! I’m happy to stand up for CBDistillery, both for their product and their ethics. I tried CBD once and they put me on an auto shipping list! I’m happy to hear that the topical CBD has been useful for you.
Deborah Brooks
I have not tried any CBD oil products myself. I guess I am still a little skeptical and it seems like there is a lot of conflicting info out there. Glad to hear that you are finding some benefits from it. Thanks for the linkup
Debbie Woodruff
It certainly an “in” product right now! There is science to back some of the claims up, though. And finding the right company is important too.
Laura Norris
I haven’t tried any CBD products yet, but I am interested to see the developing research and people’s experiences. It does seem to help for some people!
Debbie Woodruff
The research looks promising. It does seem to help some people more than others.

I’m still kind of on the fence on CBD myself. I’ve heard lots of good things about it, but it’s also the wild wild west — I think it’s riding a “high” because of the almost-legalization of marijuana.
I also know that it’s not at all regulated, so it’s hard to determine who to trust.
Thanks for sharing your experiences — it’s always great to have first hand recommendations.
Debbie Woodruff
It certainly is the hot new thing. There is some research to back up some of the benefits, which makes me feel confident about sharing my own personal experience.

My mom just actually purchased some CBD products so I’m looking forward to giving them a try!
Debbie Woodruff
I look forward to hearing what you think!
Sandra D Laflamme
I would definitely be into using the topical salve. So far I have loved using CBD products!
Debbie Woodruff
I’m glad CBD has been working well for you. The salve is pretty great!
Marc Pelerin
This is interesting. I can’t say it’s for me, but I can appreciate runners who are looking for any kind of advantage to help with recovery.
Debbie Woodruff
CBD can be very helpful for recovery,
