I am really excited to announce that I will be joining up with some awesome bloggers to co-host the Blogger’s Pit Stop linkup starting this Friday, December 4!
Because of that, I’m making a few changes around here. My Blogging Tips series will be moving to Friday starting this week. Wednesdays will be all about running and fitness and Monday will still usually be a Meatless Monday recipe.
Blogger’s Pit Stop
First let me tell you a little about the Blogger’s Pit Stop. I will be joining Kathleen, from Lifestyle Building Blocks, and Janice, from Mostly Blogging, to give you a great opportunity to share your best posts as well as get some blogging tips and information. We are the Pit Stop Crew and we’re there to help you. We hope to have a weekly guest host as well, and we will all be there to answer your blogging questions.
Would you like to become a Pit Stop Crew Member? We’re looking for bloggers who write about blogging (it’s okay if you write about other things too), have an Alexa ranking of 400,00 or below, and who love to help other bloggers. If you’re interested fill out this application form.
We look forward to seeing you every Friday. The linkup will be live at 1:00 am ET. We are planning a few things to help you increase your following and improve your bounce rate, so be sure to read the instructions in the first post. You can also read Kathleen’s Blogger’s Pit Stop post, which will fill you in. And be sure to grab our cool button:
Weekend Revelry
Just a quick catch up from Thanksgiving weekend. We had a fun but very busy four days, as I’m sure that many of you did too. We kicked off Thursday morning with the 17th Annual Turkey Trot in La Quinta. Since we were putting it on, not running in it, that meant getting up very, very, early (like 2 am for Alan and 3 am for me).
After a Wednesday of high winds, and what ended up being a Friday of rain, Thursday was perfect. Chilly, but perfect for running, with beautiful blue skies and super clear air. That was really important, not for the running so much as for the hot air balloon we had planned, which did tethered rides in the park after the race.
After the race there was no letting up. We were visiting a neighbor for Thanksgiving dinner, but I always try to prepare enough vegan food to take with me. Two reasons for this. One, it makes sure that Alan and I both get to eat, plus I love to introduce people to the deliciousness of vegan cooking. I made a Gardein Holiday Roast, maple pumpkin pie, stuffing, and cranberry sauce.
My lovely neighbors not only made some vegetarian dishes, they also clearly marked each dish. There were a lot of people, tons of food, and we had a great time. By the end of the evening, though, Alan and I were both exhausted and fell into bed around 8:00.
I had to work on Friday, but on Saturday I decided enough was enough with this broken knee thing (it was exactly six weeks since I fell), and Alan and I went for a three-mile walk. It sounds small, but it was huge! I even tried out a few running steps. They did hurt a bit, but I reminded myself that I had knee problems long before I cracked my patella. Still, I stuck mostly with walking.
Sunday was Samuel’s third birthday! We left extra early because Alan wanted to make a quick trip to San Diego first to hit up Roadrunner Sports. It was a great day for it because everything was 25% off for VIPs. I even treated myself to a new Fitbit!
Then it was on to visit Samuel and family. It had been a couple months since I’d seen Emma, so it was a lot of fun to see how much she’s grown. She is a very happy baby.
And the birthday boy, of course.
Today is my doctor’s appointment, so cross your fingers for me that I am healed and will be released to gradually return to running (and other normal parts of my life). My knee feels good, I can bend it easily to about 90 degrees, and I’m oh so ready.
I hope to see you back here on Friday for the Blogger’s Pit Stop, and my weekly blogging tips post.
