Hooray for Friday! I’m not sure why I get so excited about Friday. It (usually) comes so quickly anyway because time is just flying away. Just another week of life gone in an instant! Oh, sorry. Anyway, yay! it’s Friday. Here are five fun things you should know.

Friday Free for All: 5 Fun Things You Should Know
The Carlsbad 5000
Sunday is the Carlsbad 5000! Alan and I (and a bunch of other Rock ‘n’ Bloggers and Pro Compression Ambassadors) will be doing the All Day 20k, which is basically running four-5ks in a row. Fun times! We also talked our former neighbor Christina, who recently moved to Oceanside to join us.
I ran my first Carlsbad 5000 back in 1995! It was one of my first 5k races (long before they added the All Day 20k). My best time was 20:16 (way back in 1999!), which was just over my all-time 5k PR. It is a fast course. I did the race for about five years in a row, then marathon training kind of took over my life and I stopped doing very many 5ks.
One of the cool things about the Carlsbad 5000 is that they have separate races for different age groups, plus two elite races that are timed so that the “regular” participants can see the best runners compete. Many world records have been set on this course. Of course, the All Day 20k runners will run in each race (except the elite’s).

- Masters Women Age 40 & Over – 7:55am

Daily Turmeric
There are two products that I received in my recent Lucky Vitamin order that are really helping me. The first is Mega Foods Daily Turmeric. I simply add a scoop to my daily smoothie to help with recovery. The inflammation-reducing benefits of turmeric are boosted with black cherry, basil, and black pepper. Daily Turmeric is organic, Non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, soy-free, dairy-free, and kosher! While both turmeric and pepper have a spicy flavor on their own, they don’t change the flavor of my smoothies.
BiEstro-Care Body Cream
I have been using BiEstro-Care Body Cream for over a year, ever since I first became a Lucky Ambassador (and discovered BiEstro-Care). It has been a life-changer for me! I had my hysterectomy almost 10 years ago, and since that time I had been taking hormone replacement therapy. I really wanted to stop, or at least cut down, but every time I tried, all the menopausal symptoms, like hot flashes, would return. While this product does contain the estrogens estriol and estradiol, it is a lighter dose and applied externally. The best part is that I have been able to stop taking my other hormone replacements because of BiEstro-Care. That’s a win as far as I’m concerned.
Now You can Print Out your Pre-Race Checklist!
On Wednesday I published 29 Things You Should Do the Night Before Your Big Race. I just added a printable checklist that you can use to make sure you’re getting it all done! Thanks to Nicole for the suggestion!
Vegan at Aldi!
As a regular Aldi shopper, I’ve been happy to see that, in addition to their organic products, they’ve been adding various vegan items to the store. The brand is called Earth Grown, and it includes various prepared vegan foods like “chicken” strips, veggie patties, hot dogs, and even cheese! While all Aldis don’t carry all items (I found more at the Palm Desert store vs. my local La Quinta Aldi), I assume that this trend will continue.
Are you racing this weekend? Do you shop at Aldi’s? What are your thoughts on turmeric?

We just go an Aldi in our area and I love it. The prices are great! I will have to look for those products. Have a great weekend.

The Aldis here isn’t close to me so I don’t shop there.
I was lucky that my menopausal symptoms have been relatively mild. The occasional hot flush (they really don’t even qualify as hot flashes) and that’s about it. So far, anyway, it hasn’t been that long for me.
And I am thankful since my mom is a breast cancer survivor & hers was estrogen receptive, so i’d rather not add more estrogen if I can avoid it! I’m glad the body cream is working for you.
Good luck this weekend & enjoy!

Every time you mention Carlsbad, I get envious….I hope to make it out that way some year, preferably during a year I don’t have a graduation party in the works 😉 Good luck!!!
