I recently received an email asking me to help promote the FTR Runners Backpack project on Kickstarter. If you’re a blogger, you probably receive hundreds of emails like this, asking you to write a blog post or promote on social media in exchange for a product you don’t need. I generally hit the delete button, frequently without reading the whole email.
There was something about this particular email, though, that compelled me to, first, read the whole thing, and second, search for the FTR Runners Backpack on Kickstarter (Kickstarters are not allowed to send a link in their request emails).
What I saw compelled me to reply to that email and offer to help out in promotion of this project. Here are five reasons I agreed to help out (and why you should also support the FTR Runners Backpack on Kickstarter).

Felipe
While the email itself intrigued me, it wasn’t until I clicked over to the Kickstarter page that I watched the video and discovered that Felipe was a 15 year old boy! Though “boy” doesn’t quite describe the mature young man that created the FTR Runners Backpack, started up the Kickstarter, and wrote the email requesting help in promoting.
At a time when most kids are just hanging around playing video games with their buddies, Felipe has created FTR Sportwear and the Runners Backpack. I think an accomplishment like that deserves support from the running community.
Designed by a Runner for the Runners
What led Felipe to design the FTR Runners Backpack was that, as a runner himself, he couldn’t find a backpack that could carry all his school supplies as well as his running gear. He figured out exactly what was needed in a runner’s backpack and proceded to create it. And named it appropriately. FTR stands for “For The Runners.”
So. Much. Room!
In addition to the spacious front compartment that can hold phones, keys, wallets, etc., there is a separate (and removable) shoe bag, and the interior can accommodate a laptop, paperwork (or schoolwork), and/or a tablet.
Lock it Down
The problem with many backpacks is that if you happen to run in them they flop around or slide off your shoulders. The FTR Runners Backpack has a clip that will allow you to lock it down, eliminating the bounce and making carrying the backpack, running or not, much more comfortable.
Receive Your Own FTR Runners Backpack
For a $25 donation, you will receive a FTR Runners Backpack, which is about a 45% discount on the expected retail price of $45. This is, of course, pending the achievement of reaching the financial goal of the Kickstarter.
The creators of the FTR Runners Backpack have a goal of raising $7500 by April 20. Felipe could use your help. A donation of even $5 is great, though if you donate $25 you will receive an FTR Backpack when it is released (around August 18, 2018, presuming the financial goal is achieved). Larger donations will receive more backpacks. They would make great back to school gifts for your kids, friends, or any runner in your life. Or maybe a donation to your local high school cross country team?

In exchange for sharing, I will receive one of the first FTR Runners Backpack (if we meet the goal).

What a clever idea from a teenager. I’m sure he will meet his goal. There are a lot of runners out there!

What a great cause! Several years ago, the hubby and I did a triathlon (he did the full tri, I was on a relay team) and we received nice backpacks (very similar) to this as swag (along with a bike jersey and hat). I love all the roomy pockets your bag shows and the versatility!

I’m always on the lookout for the perfect backpack. Most don’t have enough pockets/compartments!
