Hi Everybody! Just popping in for a quick Friday Wrap Up! Today I want to share my Popsugar Must Have Unboxing, a few recipes for my new obsession, Chana Masala, and my adventures (again) in traffic court.
The Friday Wrap Up
Popsugar Must Have Box
I received the Popsugar June Must Have Box the other day! I’m a Popsugar Select blogger and they sent me the complimentary box so I can share all the goodies with you. Here’s my “unboxing” video (it’s short!).
It’s always fun to get a box of surprise goodies in the mail, especially when they are quality, useful products. Here’s what I received:
1. Hat Attack Neutral Diamonds-Printed Sarong. It’s so pretty, perfect to use on the beach or as a scarf or wrap.
2. Pacifica Underarm Deodorant Wipes. Um, I’m a runner. Enough said. #handy
3. Wild and Wolf “Who Am I” Quiz. This is a fun trivia party game. I love it!
4. NCLA Born on the4th Nail Lacquer. I will feel so patriotic wearing this on Independence Day. It’s cruelty-free and vegan too. Score!
5. Knock Knock “Are you ready for your closeup?” Compact. A cute, durable compact mirror is always so handy.
6. Pressels Sriracha. Spicy and delicious, with less fat and sodium than other popular chips. Win/Win!
7. Sisters of LA “Cheers” Gold Bottle Opener. A classy way to open your bottle of beer!
Traffic Court
I didn’t write about this at the time, not being very proud of it, but a couple months ago I got a speeding ticket. I went to court last week, took care of it, scheduled traffic school, blah, blah blah. The hiccup came when I went to pay my ticket and the clerk told me that I had an unpaid “fixit” ticket from, wait for it, 2006!
I have no recollection of ever getting that ticket, which was supposed to be for not have a front or back license plate. The car was actually my son’s, which we had, ahem, taken away. It is long sold, presumably with a license plate.
Now because I supposedly never took care of this ticket, a bench warrant had been issued. That means that, theoretically, I could have been arrested any time I had a traffic violation. Since 2006, I have purchased two cars, renewed my license at least two times, and had two traffic tickets. No one ever mentioned this old ticket.
So this week I went back to court, armed with excuses my story that there was no way that I would have just neglected to take care of that ticket. And why, by the way, was it never brought up??? I was primed for battle.
In traffic court, thanks to my last name, I was the last one called. As I went up to the podium, I joked a little about having a name that starts with “W,” trying to be charming, I guess. It didn’t matter. The judge looked at the infraction, looked at me, then said, “this is so old that in the interest of justice I’m going to dismiss it.” I almost cried.
Link Ups
Don’t forget, I have two link ups going on. We’d love you to share your running-related posts on the Running Coaches’ Corner, plus I have some thoughts on things you can do to run faster for any race distance. You can share any type of post at the Blogger’s Pit Stop, so stop on by, link up, and find some new blogging friends.

I hope you’ll stop by my other blog and check out my new post, Tips for Creating Achievable Blogging Goals. While it is targeted toward new bloggers, I think that all bloggers can find some information that may interest and inspire them.
My search for Vegan Indian Recipes
As I mentioned, after my dinner at the Himalayan in Big Bear, I really want to try to re-create both the Chana Masala and the Lentil Dal dishes that I thought were so delicious. I found several resources, including these two cookbooks that I already owned (affiliate link alert):
The Indian Vegan Kitchen by Madhu Gadia
Vegan Richa’s Indian Kitchen by Richa Hingle
I also found a few blog posts that looked pretty good.
Neil’s Healthy Meals: Green Lentil Dal
Oh She Glows: Golden Red Lentil Dal
When I have a chance, I’ll take a look at all of these resources and see what I can come up with. I’ll keep you informed!
Another post that really resonated with me this week was this one from Abbey’s Kitchen. She is discussing the research about connections between sugar intake and cancer, which is very interesting. What really excited me was the clear and concise way she explained how carbs are used in our bodies. Sometimes nutrition topics can be so confusing, but Abbey really nailed it.

Well, that’s the Friday Wrap Up! I hope you have a great weekend! I hope to visit my son’s family because I just found out (seriously, as I was writing this) that he may accept a job in Minnesota and be moving as soon as August! That’s a tale for the other day, but I’ll be seeing as much of my grandchildren as possible in the meantime.
Do you have any plans for the weekend? Events, races, training…you name it, tell me about it.
