TGIF and Happy Friday Favorites day! Every Friday brings us closer to the end of the summer. I know this may be a sad thing for many, but for those of us who live in the desert, it means we finally see the light at the end of a long, hot tunnel.
Cooler weather not only means more comfort, it also means better (and more effective) running, lower air conditioning bills, and the return of the Snowbirds, those people who flee the hot weather and return when the golf courses re-open and the weather cools down. They also make up the majority of my clients, so I am more than ready for their return.
Here are some of my Friday Favorites from the week!
Seen on the Run
I am still on the lookout for fun and unusual sightings on the run. While it’s not unusual at all in the desert, the roadrunner is a little more scarce in other areas of the country. This guy was nice enough to pose for me, even though I couldn’t get close enough to get a really great picture.
Fun Deliveries
I received a couple fun packages in the mail this week, which I’ll be telling you more about soon.
I’m working with prAna to spread the word about their new fall fashion line. As always they hit it out of the ballpark. More coming soon, but in the meantime, don’t forget to enter the giveaway that prAna and Organic Valley are hosting (it runs through August 31). Enter here for your chance to win $300 in prAna gear, a two-month supply of Organic Valley Organic Fuel, and other fun swag. And don’t forget you can save 15% on your prAna purchase with the code PFS16CDR.
I also received this cool package from Aftershokz. I am working with them to announce their new, limited-edition Trekz Titanium Pink. Details coming soon, but just know that from the time of their release on September 1, through October 31, 25% of your purchase goes to Bright Pink to educate and provide awareness about breast and ovarian cancer.
Amazing Service from Fitbit
About a week ago the button and the backing on my Fitbit Charge HR fell off. At first, I lost the button, then found it on the ground, but I couldn’t make it stay together. I ended up using tape to hold it. While it still works, it’s difficult to charge, and, well, the tape looks a little tacky.
Early this week I emailed customer service at Fitbit. I explained my situation, when I purchased it (at Road Runner Sports last December), and told them that I did not still have the receipt, but if necessary I could probably dig up the credit card transaction.
Not necessary, fortunately, because within two days I had a response from Fitbit. Let’s just say my new Fitbit Charge HR will be here on Monday! It’s such a pleasure to be treated to excellent customer service!
Lucky Vitamin Favorites
As a Lucky Vitamin Ambassador, every now and then I like to highlight some of the cool things they have on sale and some of the great information that is available on the Lucky Vitamin Blog.
This week you can find up to 50% off many vegan items! You’ll find a variety of products from protein powders and bars, to vitamins and supplements. The prices are always great at Lucky Vitamin, but now they’re even better!
On the Lucky Blog, you’ll find many items of interest for your health and wellness. This week you can learn more about the benefits of Flax and Chia seeds, plus how turmeric extract can help reduce pain.
Link Love
This is a little selfish, but my favorite post of the week is from Wendy of Taking the Long Way Home. She always takes such great, cool photos of her runs, so when she shared her tips I was totally ecstatic. Here is my first effort, both before and after my edits. I know I still need a little practice.
Finally, Happy Birthday to Emma!
It’s hard to believe, but this little one is having her first birthday today! We’re heading over to see her on Sunday, but today is officially the day that my granddaughter Emma turns one! Happy Birthday!

I have alway’s liked Wendy’s pictures, so it’s nice to know some of her secrets. ๐
Nicole @ Fitful Focus
I can’t believe the little one is a year old already!! Time flies! Also happy to hear Fitbit has such good customer service!
Debbie Woodruff
It sure does! And her brother will be 4 in a couple months. Before we know it they’ll be graduating from high school! ๐
Jaycie
I just recently got a FitBit myself! Love their support and their features!
Debbie Woodruff
This is my second (I had the original, then upgraded to the Charge). I’m happy to know that they will replace it when it broke.
Elle
Enjoy the birthday celebrations! I agree, FitBit has amazing customer service. My husband has been the happy recipient of some recently too.
Debbie Woodruff
Thank you! I guess it shouldn’t be such a surprise when we get good service, but it is so nice to not have to argue to get what you should.
Kimberly Hatting
I think your first attempt at the fancy photo looks great! I just added a new app this morning, and am gonna take the plunge and play with my pics a bit more. The art geek in me is at a crossroads…I like to capture interesting pics that stand alone (not needing any enhancement) but I also like the challenge of taking a simple (boring, for example) pic and making it funky.
Debbie Woodruff
I like that you can take a boring picture and make it more exciting. Or even just simple fixes like a little brightening or color correction can make a big difference. I just need more practice. ๐
Toni
Love your yoga pics!! I think Fitbit is amazing, my friend actually lost hers and they replaced it!
Divya @ Eat Teach Blog
SO ready for fall. Ready to be DONE with this humidity!
Carmy
One! How time flies! Happy Birthday to Emma ๐
