So you know that I’m a Pro Compression Ambassador, right? This post is not sponsored by them. But it was thanks to a Pro Compression video that I learned how to put on compression socks. Believe me, it was a life hand saver!
Over the last few years, I’ve developed arthritis in my hands. It’s not unbearable, but it does cause me some pain and makes it hard to grip. On top of that, I have really weak fingernails (thanks, years of wearing acrylics!). As much as I love my Pro Compression, that combination made them really hard to put on. Have you had the same problem?
So anyway, thanks to Pro Compression I learned this technique that makes a huge difference. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it is so much easier to put on my compression socks now.
It's easy to put on @procompression socks! Here's the trick! No more broken fingernails! #runningClick To TweetHow to Put on Compression Socks
1. Slide your hand into the sock. When you get to the heel, apply your thumb and hold it like a sock puppet.
2. Pull the sock down, inside out, over your hand (still holding on to the heel).
3. Take the sock off your hand, leaving a space for your foot to slide in.
3. Slip the sock over your foot, pulling it on until your toes are in place.
4. Continue to pull the sock over your foot, slipping it over the heel.
5. Pull the sock up over your calf, straightening a little as necessary.
6. Slide it back down a little, then pull it back up, adjusting the fit as you go.
7. Voila! You’re good to go!
This may be old news to you, but it was life-changing for me! Here’s the video.
Photos of the Week
I have mixed feelings about selfies. I’m a pretty modest person, but I take a lot of selfies. So what does that mean? I really do it for social media and to promote the blog, but I feel a little self-conscious when I put a lot of running selfies here or on Instagram. That being said, here’s my favorite photo of the week, which just so happens to be a selfie.
About the photo: I don’t generally carry a photographer with me, so for this photo, I had to set the timer, scramble up the rocks, and strike a pose before the camera went off. This one turned out well, but the outtakes were pretty fun too (but I already deleted them, so sorry).
So this photo pretty much ties for my favorite photo ever. This is Jack (the big boy) and Raleigh. If you recall, we rescued Raleigh and his sister (we think) Dolly about a year and a half ago off the streets. It took us three days to finally catch Raleigh (thanks to hot dogs) and it took a lot longer than that for him to trust us. He’s come a long way and he loves and trusts Jack so much that we frequently find them snuggling or just posing like this.
This Week’s Blog Posts
Actually, aside from this one, it should say this week’s blog post, since my blog was down on Monday. In any case, if you’re a runner you don’t want to miss 5 Ways to Get Yourself Out the Door (when you don’t feel like running).
That’s it for the week! Have you tried this method for putting on compression socks? Do you have any idea how I can make my fingernails stronger? It’s been almost three years since I removed the acrylics!

I have always had issues with your blog loading very slowly but today vroom! it loaded like a flash! So there you go.
I’m just loving all your desert photos–your colorful outfits really pop against the landscape. Have a great weekend!

I’m glad to hear it’s loading faster! I know it’s slow and that’s one of the downsides of a shared server. (The upside is it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg!)

I break fingernails trying to put on compression socks, so THANK YOU for the tutorial!!! That was so helpful! (Side note, that’s similar to how I learned to put pillow cases on pillows. lol!)
Debbie Woodruff
And thank you for telling me about pillowcases! I never knew that!
Marcia
I’ve seen a similar compression sock video recently and it made all the difference! That blog stuff scares me. Color me clueless on that front. I suppose I need a tech person on call but what they charge stops me dead in my tracks. Your pooch pics are so cute!
Debbie Woodruff
The cost is why I’ve been a DIYer all these years (for the most part..I got help when I rebranded.) It’s scary when you’re doing things that might mess up your blog!

Thank you for the sick tutorial! I will try this technique! It wasn’t pretty when I tried them on the first time – and I was doing it standing up!

Those are great tips on the compression socks who knew?! I used to wear them all the time but have not in a while
