It’s very rare that I sit down to write a blog post without a clear idea of what I want to talk about. But here goes!
Now that work is slowing down (I live in a seasonal area, where the snowbirds come and go with the weather), I have more time to write, catch up on projects, train, and, well, generally rest and recover from a busy season. The downside, of course, is that less work means less money coming in. So, forgive me if this post is a little random, but in order to stay positive, I decided that I would write about what I love about Monday.
5 Things I Love About Monday
1. I Love My Job!
There is nothing that makes you appreciate getting up to go to work on Monday than the thought that next week you might not have a job to get up for. Sorry about that convoluted sentence, but, honestly, I love my job. I love my employer. I love my clients. As we reach the end of the season, I’ve already said goodbye to almost all of them. Most won’t be back until November.
2. Every Monday is a Fresh Start
No matter what happened last week, Monday always seems like a fresh start. Bad training week? That’s all over, new start on Monday. Rough time at work last week? It’s over now, Monday is a “do-over,” a second chance at a great week.
3. Monday Opens the Door to New Opportunities
Monday is a new door to the future, bringing with it new chances and opportunities. Most new adventures, jobs, educational opportunities start on Monday. It should be celebrated as “new opportunity day!”
4. Meatless Monday
So yes, I’m vegan and every day is meatless for me. What makes me happy about Meatless Monday is the number of meat eaters that do take the trouble to eat meatless one day a week. Every little bit helps.
5. Dancing with the Stars
My guilty pleasure, Dancing with the Stars (semi-finals tonight!), is something that I look forward to every Monday (and will be sad for the next four months or so until the next season starts).
This Monday, I love that I’m not a plumber (or a plumber’s helper)
Okay, so this isn’t a real thing to love about Monday, but after two weekends in a row of first replacing our kitchen faucet, then trying to figure out why there is no hot water pressure, then, this weekend replacing the hot water valve (and still no pressure!) I am really happy that I’m not a plumber. More power to you if you understand all this, but basically we have struggled to understand what seems simple at first glance (like, shouldn’t the old valve just unscrew?). PS: If you have any ideas, please let me know in the comments!
My Summer Plan
This has nothing to do with Monday except that this seems like a good day of the week to plan for the near future. I won’t be working my real job, but I do have some plans.
Fascial Stretch Therapy
If you live locally…I am a level one Fascial Stretch Therapist. You can read about the awesome benefits, then if you are interested in learning more (and getting a great summer deal), contact me and we can work something out. Seriously, FST is the bomb for athletes, people who have back or other pain, and just overall balancing of your body.
Blog Projects
In addition to some upcoming sponsored posts (I need some income!), the summer is a great time to so some blogkeeping, and other blogging projects, not to mention fill out my Co-Schedule calendar for the upcoming months.
Blogfest
I am so excited about Blogfest, which is July 14-17, this year! Awesome workouts, great presenters, access to the IDEA World Fitness Convention, plus this year I’ve been asked to moderate a roundtable discussion! (I’m still looking for a roomie or two, so let me know if you’re in the same boat!)
Fascial Stretch Level 2
If all goes as planned I’ll be heading to my level 2 Fascial Stretch Therapist certification in October. It’s a week long, very intense class in Tempe, Arizona, and I can’t wait! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Rock ‘n’ Roll 1/2 Marathon San Diego
Yes, I have decided to run the half marathon instead of the full, but as a member of the Rock ‘n’ Blog team I’m so excited just to be at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in San Diego this year! My five-week training program is going well (lol), and with three weeks to go, I’m confident that I probably won’t embarrass myself. Remember, if you want to join me use the code COACHDEBBIERUNS to save $15. It’s good for most marathons and half marathons in the Rock ‘n’ Roll series.
As for my own training for Rock ‘n’ Roll, last week I managed to run 5 times for a total of 26 miles. The weather heated up mid-week, which made me cut my long run down to eight miles instead of 10 (late start..should have followed my own summer running advice!). Other than that, though, it was a good training week.

I love Monday because it is a fresh start. And it’s closer to Friday…is that the wrong way to look at it? ๐
Debbie Woodruff
That’s true. We never get to Friday without passing through Monday. ๐
Susie @ SuzLyfe
I like Monday because (especially during training) it means that you are building towards something again. Laying a foundation. And usually Monday is a running day, which you know I am a fan of ๐

Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home
I”m not so sure I like Monday, except that it’s nice to have the house to myself again (if only for the day time!)
Sarah @ BucketListTummy
I love your motivational spirit in this post. I like Mondays for the blank slate approach, and no Monday is the same. We can really begin each week as we’d like and reset our mindsets!
GiGi Eats
I actually really like Mondays too! While the weekends are great, I am kind of ADDICTED to doing work and working on my blog… So come Monday – YAY! Back to my blog I go (granted I work on it all the time, haha)… And Mondays are always a little calmer because there typically aren’t any auditions or meetings, etc… Yesterday we drove to San Diego and took engagement pics! See – we are allowed to do that because there are less meeting on Mondays! And CRAZILY ENOUGH the traffic yesterday was MIA!!
Patricia
Mondays are great for getting organized and cleaned up from a weekend of madness and neglect around the house.

You did a great job at making Mondays exciting and they are ๐ I loved the look of your rice salad, I have not made a rice salad in ages.
Michele
I like Mondays- a clean page on the calendar and the week stretching out before me. Those who hate their jobs dread Mondays.
