One step forward, two steps back.
Or is it Two Steps Forward, One Step Back?
Whatever. All I know is that after a pretty good training week last week, I feel like I have take a step or two backwards this week. And it’s all due to, what else! A migraine. And of course it came on the day of my scheduled six mile tempo run.
It is kind of frustrating. With less than three weeks until the Rock and Roll Marathon, I felt like I was on a roll with my training. I had a successful 20 mile run last week, I’m looking forward to another this weekend. All I want to do is keep my mid-week mileage up, so that I’m not getting 90% of my total mileage on my long run. Is that too much to ask?
I don’t eat cheese, so I guess I should stop whining.
In other news of the week…
As I mentioned in my review of Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator, I was so impressed that I ordered a tub, which arrived within one day! In spite of my challenges with my running, I do feel ready with my nutrition.
This! How did I not know about this dip/sauce? When my daughter-in-law served an appetizer of crackers and a really good dip (vegan, of course, she’s a great daughter-in-law!), I thought it was delicious. She told me that it was pretty popular and she got the “recipe” from one of her friends. She simply mixed equal amounts of Trader Joe’s pre-cooked lentils and bruschetta sauce, and served it with their pita crackers. Of course, I had to buy and “make” my own.
It was Alan’s birthday on Tuesday. In celebration we took a (short) run, and I made seitan burritos.
I had the best pedicure! Yes, I paid for the Sea Spa upgrade (or whatever it’s called), but it was well worth it. I really don’t pay to have good looking toenails (though that’s a side benefit), I pay for the foot and leg massage, and I had a great (long) one today. Got my fingernails done too!
I have to laugh because in this picture my feet look pretty good for someone in the middle of marathon training. What you don’t see because of the polish, is my two black toenails (the middle one on each foot). They’ll look even better when the nail falls off!
I love that I have a variety of “wildlife” surrounding me when I drive into work. This fierce bunny was guarding the front lawn of my fitness center this morning:
I am ready for my long run this weekend because my order of Reload Gels finally arrived! These all natural gels, made from fig paste taste great, go down easily, and keep me well fueled through my longest runs.
It is supposed to be around 109 here on Saturday and slightly cooler on Sunday. We were going to head to Encinitas for our long run and to visit family, but, because of the fires throughout San Diego County, we decided to stay home. Fortunately, my son and his family are safe, but there is such terrible damage to so many areas. I breaks my heart to see the horrific destruction that these fires are causing.
What is on your agenda for the weekend?
