Run for a Cause in San Francisco with Team in Training

Would you like the opportunity to run the Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco on October 19? Even if you missed the registration deadline, or if your name didn’t get selected, you have the chance to run this great race and do some good at the same time. Just join Team in Training and raise money to fund research to advance lifesaving blood cancer treatments for the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

When I ran my first marathon in 1996 in Honolulu, I was there as a part of Team in Training. I became involved with them through my husband (then my boyfriend) Alan, who started running for TNT in 1991, when the concept of running for a good cause was just getting a toehold.  At that time he was one of their biggest fundraisers and the Honolulu Marathon always had a huge contingent of Team in Training members. There is nothing better than being part of the team, hearing the support from the other members, and knowing that you have done some good to get there.

At the finish of my first marathon, in our TNT singlets.

By signing up with Team in Training, you will have free access to:

  • guaranteed entry into the San Francisco Nike Women’s Half Marathon
  • an opportunity to make a profound difference in people’s lives

Team in Training is a great cause. You have an opportunity to be a part of something much bigger than a half marathon. You can become part of the cure. Since it’s beginning in 1988, more than 600,000 participants have helped Team in Training and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society raise more than $1.4 billion.
